The team: Adrian Wallace-Scott, Musa Jarju and Lamin Fofana will train twenty Gambian constructor workers on durable eco building, ventilation and AutoCAD

The overall idea

  1. Run classes related to the field of Architecture and Engineering (all specific to The Gambia).
    Class topics: Materiality, Sustainability, Durability, Ventilation, Studio projects and CAD.
    Based at: Construction College, JK Astrup Skill Training Center, Kembujay.
  2. Conduct field trips to show precedents of what is being taught.
    Based in Tanji, The Gambia.
  3. Run practicals related to structural engineering and sustainability which can be applied to the current climate.
    Brick design: Create 10 different variations of brick and test the effectiveness of each.
    Based in the: Construction College, JK Astrup Skill Training Center, Kembujay.

Aspirations from the project

  1. Understand the ‘Vernacular Architecture’ of The Gambia.
  2. Introduce structural design elements.
  3. Oversee a practical exercise related to materiality.
  4. Produce a self ran studio project.
